What is The Autonomous Clinic?
The Autonomous Clinic is an AI-powered electronic health record (EHR) and practice automation platform by Focalize. It combines the full clinical record — charting, documentation, orders, e-prescribing, and billing — with AI that handles the administrative work of a medical practice, so clinicians and staff can focus on patient care.
How does e-prescribing work on the platform?
Licensed prescribers (physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants) create and electronically transmit prescriptions for non-controlled medications through a certified e-prescribing network. Prescriptions are sent electronically and securely to the pharmacy the patient selects.
The prescriber always chooses the medication, and the patient always chooses their pharmacy. The platform never steers medication selection or pharmacy choice.
Can patients choose their own pharmacy?
Yes — always. Patients select any pharmacy they prefer, and prescriptions are transmitted to that pharmacy. The platform places no restrictions on pharmacy choice and has no arrangements that favor one pharmacy over another.
Does the platform prescribe controlled substances electronically?
No. Electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS) is not supported. E-prescribing on the platform is limited to non-controlled medications.
Does AI make clinical decisions?
No. AI on the platform drafts and proposes — it never decides. Every clinical note and order is reviewed and approved by a licensed clinician before it is signed or sent. AI never signs notes and never communicates clinical information to patients.
Do patients interact with AI?
No. Patients never interact with AI on the platform. Patient-facing tools — scheduling, intake forms, appointment confirmations — are deterministic interfaces. Clinical communication always comes from the care team.
Is the platform affiliated with any pharmacy or pharmaceutical company?
No. Focalize and The Autonomous Clinic have no ownership ties, affiliations, or financial relationships with any pharmacy, pharmacy chain, or pharmaceutical manufacturer. Our connection to pharmacies is limited to the secure electronic transmission of prescriptions through the certified e-prescribing network, at the direction of the prescriber and the patient.
Is The Autonomous Clinic an EHR?
Yes. The Autonomous Clinic is a complete electronic health record and practice management system — patient chart, clinical documentation, orders, e-prescribing, scheduling, and billing in one platform. There is no third-party EHR underneath it and nothing to integrate.
How is my data protected?
